The Halle 216 is surrounded by many new projects such as the Parc des Portes de Paris, the ZAC Nozal-Front Populaire and the Condorcet’s Campus. The proposal aims to connect with the surrounding developing area, as well as integrate within the existing neighbourhood’s urban fabric.
The building faces the Place du Front Populaire and offers an active edge, designed as a greenhouse with retail and hospitality uses. Sitting between the retail and the main building, a romantic garden creates an attractive point visible from the Place du Front Populaire.Two interior streets connect the site to its surrounding context. These interior streets are punctuated by three different courtyards:- The exotic courtyard that consists of a greenhouse covered by a glass roof and hosts generous islands of exotic plants;- The central square which is completely open to the sky and reinforces the urban fabric of the neighbourhood. It is planted with mature majestic trees; and- The humid garden which is an inaccessible miniature landscape that can be seen from the adjacent offices.
Design to hold events, with open-air meeting rooms, sports fields and vegetable gardens, the rooftops offer recreational escapes from the busy city.
