Support for the “A Primary Forest in Western Europe” Project
We are proud to support the meaningful initiative “A Primary Forest in Western Europe”, launched by French botanist Francis Hallé. This project aims to restore and protect primary forests in Western Europe—ecosystems that are essential for biodiversity and climate regulation.
Primary forests are vital for sustaining a wide range of plant and animal species. They act as carbon sinks and contribute significantly to the overall health of our planet. The ongoing destruction of these precious habitats poses a serious threat to ecological balance and human well-being.
Francis Hallé Association for Primary Forests
Initiated by botanist Francis Hallé, the Association is working to establish a vast European zone—approximately 70,000 hectares—where an intact forest can develop autonomously. This forest will renew and expand its flora and fauna without any human intervention over several centuries. The area will be transboundary, with a French base.
The project includes several key objectives:
- Restoration of primary forests: Through targeted reforestation efforts, the initiative aims to revitalize degraded forest areas, enhancing biodiversity and ecosystem services.
- Education and awareness: The project offers workshops and field trips designed to increase understanding of the importance of primary forests and their ecological functions.
- Promotion of sustainable practices: We support sustainable economic practices that prioritize environmental protection and responsible use of natural resources.
-Community engagement: Working closely with local communities is essential to integrate their traditional knowledge and practices into conservation strategies.
As a member of the Francis Hallé Association for Primary Forests, we are committed to actively contributing to the revival of these invaluable ecosystems. This goal aligns with our desire to create a positive and lasting impact for present and future generations.
