Together with Environmental Street Furniture (ESF), DJAO-RAKITINE has developed an outdoor bench to be used across different urban projects. Its simple and utilitarian design is suitable for different types of outdoor spaces such as streets, plazas, squares, parks and gar-dens.
The bench is solid and slim, minimalist and classical.
Comfort and durability is achieved through the use of large slats of Iroko hardwood reinforced with metal bars for the seating and back elements. Iroko is untreated so it weavers and turns grey. Alternatively, it can be oiled to keep a warm timber colour. The wood used comes from legal harvesting with FSC certification, promoting responsible management of the earth’s forests. The use of thin steel structure for the seat ends provides the slimness of the design.
Robustness and stability of the bench is achieved by running hidden metal structure throughout the length of the solid wood pieces. With no visible metal welds or screws, the minimalist look of the bench is maintained.
A series of products has been developed based on the Bench 101 design. These other available products complement the range, allowing flexibility and matching different needs: Bench 102 with curved armrest, Bench 104 without backrest and Chair 101. The chair is a generous seating place for one or two persons who wish to sit close to each other.
This product is made in Ireland.
